Planning For a Year of Travel

Ohh, the best laid plans. This is a snippet of our “Planning for a Year of Travel” Google spreadsheet.

If you’ve kept up with us since the start, you may know that we have been planning to travel for a year. There are many things we anticipated starting (and completing) by the end of 2020. It’s actually quite funny looking now at the dates on our timeline. But alas, it’s August 2021 and here we are. 🙂
#COVID #Life #TheBestLaidPlans

2020 felt like a year in limbo – suspended, still, unsure.
It still feels a little like that; Everything between January 2021 and now has been so unpredictable. With the fast vaccine rollouts in the United States, steady/declining rates of COVID cases, late onset surges around the world, limited vaccine accessibility in other countries, and now with the Delta variant. There were things we probably could have done in the meantime while we waited. But because of the global pandemic and rapidly changing circumstances, there was only so much we could plan for.

So we slowed down, enjoyed every day and the extra time, and hoped (with some loose planning) for the best.

We had conversations about starting this blog, our purpose, why we want to travel, and what we hope to experience. We both hope for more from our travels than to just hit the tourist spots. We want to learn, experience the unexpected, discover hidden gems, take the scenic routes, and travel off the beaten path. Things are still uncertain, but in a way (even if you took COVID out of the picture), life is not a certain thing. Every day is a blessing and is not guaranteed.

For now, we’ll leave you with this quote:
