We just finished our first WWOOFing experience at Bosco Falconeria, a 25-acre organic farm in Partinico, Sicily.
We learned about organic farming, agriculture “by subtraction,” how to maintain vineyards, prune olive trees, make vinegar, and how to harvest grapes and make wine!
Bosco Falconeria is an organic farm with primarily grapevines. In our final week at Bosco, we had 3 different days of vendemmia, or grape harvesting, under the hot Sicilian sun. Rather than using machinery to harvest the grapes, Bosco harvests by hand. It was rewarding to experience the process of picking grapes, knowing the hard work that is behind the delicious wines we got to enjoy.
